Air cadets not only offers RAF themed activities such as flying ans shooting, but also other sports activties such as athetics, football, rugby, hockey, swimming, and many other sports. As a squadron we have long had a good sporting history. We routinely hold nights dedicated to sports, often in which multiple sports will be running at once so cadets can choose their favouroured sport. We also make use of the local hermitage centre in order to train fo swimming and earn swimming proficiency qualifications. Are there any sports competitions in cadets? Absolutely. Each year as a squadron we compete against 29 other squadrons within in the South and East Midlands Wing in wing athletics, wing swimming, and also wing cross country. We strongly encourage all cadets to take part in these events although it is by no means mandatory to take part. Cadets that win at these events will be given the oppourtunity to progress to regional level, and then; if won again, they will be able to compete at core level against the whole nation at their sport; a very rare and honourable oppourtunity that we as a squadron in the past have acheived as on multiple occasionswe have sent cadets to compete at core level. If cadets manage to represent the wing at regional level three times, they will be rewarded with a wing blue, which is a highly regarded acheivement amongst the wing.
